The Blue R34 GTR: A Story of Preservation and Harmony
The blue R34 GTR rolled into our workshop, legendary in both reputation and presence. Over the years, these cars had quietly risen in value, gaining a devoted following.
But this car wasn’t here to chase headlines or record-breaking lap times. Its owner wanted something different: a car that respected its roots, preserved the essence of Japanese motoring, yet subtly enhanced with modern technology.
At first glance, it seemed perfect. On paper, it was packed with high-end components: twin HKS turbos, Nismo intercooler, Tommy downpipes, titanium exhaust, HKS F-CON, and Split Fire coil packs.
Every part promised raw power. Yet in reality, the car didn’t run properly. Misfires, unstable idle, and oil leaks plagued it — the intercooler was practically filled with black oil, almost enough to fill two water bottles. The expensive parts were all there, but they didn’t work together. They don’t talk to each other.
We started from scratch. Every component was assessed, upgraded, or replaced.
- Weak clamps became Wiggins clamps
- HKS GTRS turbos were replaced with old-school -7 GAP D7 turbos capable of 8,000 RPM
- Timing belt serviced and adjustable cam gears installed
- MoTeC M150 plug-and-play system fitted for precise control
- BODAN Trigger kit eliminated signal bounce from the timing belt
- Piping reworked for a clean, neat finish
Our philosophy was simple: preserve what’s meant to be, enhance subtly, and create a car that delights to drive.
No oversized turbos. No sequential gearboxes. No clunky LSDs.
Just a smooth, silky, harmonious driving experience — true to the original design, where every twist and turn could be enjoyed without ever feeling overwhelmed.
When the rebuild was complete, the transformation was remarkable.

- With 16 psi of boost, it produced just under 300 kW at the wheels
It wasn’t about raw horsepower. It was about balance, control, and harmony. Every drive reminded us of the late-90s pinnacle of Japanese motoring, now married with modern technology.
